There are open source projects that are meant to address the centralization of the web, but as far as I can tell, they either a) tend to become or b) can become or c) are from the start, cults. As cults they become liable to be used or coopted by the same corporations they allegedly aimed to undermine.
The more they try to avoid argument and hide disagreement to get things done, the faster they become cults. When they are used by these corporations they end up making things worse for citizens and consumers.
